Proverbs Day 16

Proverbs 16:2
Humans are satisfied with whatever looks good;
God probes for what is good.

(The Message)

There are "good" things and there are "God" things. There are lots of good things in the world that need to be done. However, each of us have specific things that are destined for us to do. Sometimes when hands are in short supply, you have to jump in and just do what needs doing. But the goal should be to make sure your priorities overall are directed towards the things God has shown you is for you to do.

We can get pretty proud of ourselves. "Look at how much I'm doing, God. And you want me to do that big thing, too?" I would even dare to say that because we might be fearful of that big thing God wants us to do, that we fill our own schedules up with all these other "good" things so we have an excuse for not doing what keeps gnawing at us to do. But it's still just an excuse, isn't it? And excuses won't fly with God.

Now, I'm not saying you should quit your job because it's not what you're "called" to do. Let's be sensible! We need to make a living. But you know what I mean if you're stretching yourself thin saying yes to too many things and not making room for the right things.

I have learned that you can't ignore the true things that God has for you to do. You can play the avoidance game a long time, but God will keep probing. He loves us too much to give up on us. He knows what joy it will bring to our hearts to be fulfilling our life's purpose through the giftings He gave us. And it's not just about us. Our giftings are meant to reach out to the world.

Don't settle for less than God's very best for you. Someone is out there waiting for you to release your brilliance!
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. ~ Ephesians 2:10 NKJV
