Proverbs Day 12

Proverbs 12:25 ~
Worry is a heavy burden,
but a kind word
always brings cheer.

(Contemporary English Version)

Worry really is a heavy burden. It means to torment oneself with or suffer from disturbing thoughts; fret.

Jesus tells us to cast our cares on Him, but instead we worry. We torment ourselves with disturbing thoughts when we should be trusting Him with our concerns.

Then, how sweet it is when someone near us notices our fretful condition and speaks a word of life and encouragement to us. That is priceless. I'm so thankful I have people in my life that do that for me. But what if you don't have someone to speak a kind word to you? Get into the Word. You will find a treasure trove of promises to lift you up. Then, when you've fueled up on the Word, go out and sow seeds of kind words into others. It will come back to you in even greater measure.

What worries are you tormenting yourself by thinking about? Give them to the Lord and let Him carry the burden. He can handle it better than you can.
