Proverbs Day 15

Proverbs 15:33 ~

Fear-of-God is a school in skilled living—
first you learn humility, then you experience glory.


(The Message)

First you learn humility. I could stop there and enough has been said.

Sometimes we wonder why God doesn't fix our problems quicker. After taking the long way around some mountains, I can tell you that many times our biggest obstacle is our pride.

God will allow whatever it takes for us to humble ourselves. He wants us to experience the glory, but He knows we can't handle it if we haven't first truly learned humility. As our Father, He knows we need to learn respect and honor, and He will correct us until we get that.

We have to finally get to a point that we are willing to surrender all our hopes, dreams, and desires to His will. The things we think we deserve -- we must lay them down. The preservation of our reputation -- we must lay it down. The desire to be first and best -- we must lay it down.

I think the whole purpose of life on our planet before going to eternity is to learn humility. Pride is what threw satan and one third of the angels out of heaven. For us to experience the glory of heaven, we need to humble ourselves under God's sovereign hand.

While we're on this earth, humility will get you farther in life though it doesn't always appear that way on the surface. But rest assured, it will be worth all the grit you go through when you experience the ultimate glory. It will mean so much more.
