Just when you think all hope is lost. Just when you think there's no solution. Just when you think there's no recovery coming. Just when you think...
God says, that's your problem. Thinking on the problems instead of having faith in the promise. Our thinking and over-thinking can be troublesome to us. We start with one little thought and before you know it, it takes on a life of its own and exponentially multiplies until you're dizzy from all the thoughts running through your head.
Let's break it down a bit. Faith is the SUBSTANCE of things hoped for, the EVIDENCE of things not seen. Substance and evidence are not flimsy words. Never overlook the choice of Holy Spirit inspired words when you read scriptures.
Substance means: the actual matter of a thing, as opposed to the appearance or shadow; reality. Wow! Did you get that?? Your faith is the actual reality of what you're hoping for. Your faith is not the shadow of what might be. If you lose faith, you lose the thing you hoped for because the faith is the required ingredient to bring it to life.
Evidence means: that which tends to prove or disprove something; ground for belief; proof.
Our minds naturally think backwards. We think about the facts and circumstances, which may be contrary to what we have believed for, and unless we get control over our thinking, our faith will diminish.
When you bake a cake, you don't start with a cake. You start with a bunch of separate and distinct ingredients that you couldn't eat individually and enjoy the experience of a cake. Flour is gross. So are raw eggs. Baking powder, double yuck! You can't look at the individual ingredients and wonder how they are going to produce the end result of a delicious cake. You have faith to believe your end result will match the picture on the recipe. You have the cake in mind when you're mixing all your ingredients together, and heating up the oven. Hmm, that's a word!
You have no idea how these ingredients could possibly work together to make the cake, yet you follow the recipe and every time, you will get a cake! The only way the cake will not produce is if YOU have not followed the recipe properly and heated the oven to the correct temperature and baked the "goo" for the required length of time. Selah!
God says, stop thinking so much and start believing in faith. There's no need to think and wonder how, when you are following His instructions and believing you will get what He promised. Eat some cake while you think on that! ;)
